Zain put on some muscles. Looking good. Some question about whether he got the fall or his opponent couldn’t finish the match in the semifinals, but Zain is in the finals tomorrow. Let’s go Zain!
If you go on YouTube and search for Dan Kolov, you can actually rewind the livestreams. Go to Mat B. Best I can suggest for now!Any video?
Wow. Freaking awesome. Way to go Zain. Hope everyone reaches out for congrats. Young man is simply great. Now Zain rest up and help our team win another Big ten title and National Championship trophy. See ya Sunday at Rec hall. Great job Zain pain.Zain with the gold, 10-6!
Josh Rodriguez fought all the way back for bronze!
Here's a link to Zain's match:
He dominated the match. He had all of the offense, and theRussianBulgarian was gifted all 6 points.
Spoiler Alert: 5 pts were when Zain side headlocked him feet to back, which should've been 4 for Zain, plus a failed challenge;
the other point was for Zain "fleeing" a standing rear position by peeling hands and escaping.
Zain also managed the match well. Forced a pushout that took the ref out of the match and made the Russian attack, which led to Zain's easiest takedown of the match.
Strong win over a good opponent.

That would be awesome, unfortunately the global political maneuverings may stifle that in April. We shall see. Hopefully a match with the Iranians get rescheduled somewhere in the future as well.One thought on this is it seems that most college superstars have to create Version 2.0 before they can have international success. They cannot rely on the amazing talent that led them to collegiate heights. David Taylor was always close, but he built out his body and his lungs to take a meteoric rise on the international level. Kyle Snyder v1 was simply amazing internationally (which is a rarity), but I believe he came to NLWC to create an even better v2. All of a sudden, Nolf doesn't look like the skinny 157 pounder - he looks very solid, and since that body slam from Dake, v2 is finding success. Zain's had some success internationally, but it is unclear if he could the pinnacles, particularly after losing to McKenna and Nick at the Trials. But I wish all could see a picture of him from this tourney. He wrestled 70kg, and he looks ripped. It's great to see that he rededicated himself to creating v2 of himself after those losses. He's got a match with James Green on the Rudi's card in March, and then Nolf teased a NLWC matchup with Russia in April. Could you imagine that dual? Could we see Sadulaev-Snyder?
Still looks like he fights too hard at times for folk style positions. Great win.Watched the whole thing. The international refs continue to work against us. The Bulgarian didn’t take any shots until the very end when he was down by 2. How does he not get hit with passivity? SMH
GREAT job by Zain pushing the pace. His awareness, in terms of not exposing his own back or getting baited into exposure, has greatly improved since earlier in his senior freestyle career.
Nice win! Hopefully this propels him to more W’s on the world stage.
Lol. He can fight all he wants over the next few weeks in folk style helping our guys in the room win a Big Ten title and National Championship !Still looks like he fights too hard at times for folk style positions. Great win.
