Saint Petersburg (Fla.) Northeast three-star safety D’Angelo Hutchinson has decommitted from Iowa State.

“I would like to thank the Iowa State coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to be apart of their program,” Hutchinson tweeted Tuesday. “After talking to my coaches and family I will be de-committing and opening up my recruitment.”

The Cyclones were the first team to offer Hutchinson. He also holds offers from Georgia State, Louisville, South Dakota, Southern Miss, UCF and Western Kentucky.

The Cardinals have emerged in Hutchinson’s recruiting in recent weeks. Louisville first offered the three-star recruit in late September, and Hutchinson has now been on two visits to the school. The most recent of those trips came this past weekend.

Hutchinson is the No. 1029 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The Iowa State recruiting class now has 19 commits and is the No. 30 ranked class in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

There are three four-star recruits in the group, including Council Bluffs (Ia.) Lewis Central defensive lineman Hunter Deyo, Tampa Tampa Bay Tech wide receiver Greg Gaines and Minneapolis IMG Academy safety Trevon Howard.

Howard committed to the Cyclones on Sunday. His commitment came after decommitting from Northwestern on Halloween.
