Miami LB Adarius Hayes was involved in a car crash this weekend that led to multiple hospitalizations, including his own, as well as three fatalities. The latest on the incident is now out with his role in it put into context by those reporting from South Florida.

Andy Slater of FOX Sports 640 updated the details of the accident, from his previous tweet about it, in a quoted post on Sunday. He revealed that police have not yet set any charges against Hayes for his role in the matter but noted that the Hurricanes’ player has been involved in other car-related matters as of recently, including, per reports, a pair of other wrecks and seven tickets.

“Police say Hayes was driving the car involved in this crash, which now has claimed three lives. No charges have been filed as of now as the investigation is ongoing, cops say,” Slater posted this afternoon. “I’ve learned that Hayes had been involved in two other crashes in recent history and had been ticketed on at least seven different occasions. Cops alleged he was going 80mph on US-1 in Miami just a few weeks ago, also once raced with another car on the highway at 90+, and another time almost sideswiped a police car.”

No other updates have been shared on the conditions of those, like Hayes, who remain in the hospital. That’s with the toll from this accident already up to three deaths to this point.

Hayes is coming out of his second spring with the program following his freshman season at The ‘U. He appeared in a dozen games last fall where he posted a dozen tackles and an interception.

A native of Largo, Florida, Hayes was the No. 175 overall recruit as a four-star in the 2024 cycle. He was the No. 12 LB in that class and a Top-25 prospect out of the state of Florida. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. That made him one of the top signees for the ‘Canes a recruiting cycle ago in their No. 5-rated class in ’24.

There’ll be hopes for the best as far as Hayes, as well as those also still recovering in the hospital, coming out of this accident as the latest is awaited on them all. That’s with thoughts also going out to those killed and their families in this incident down in Largo.
