Rice is set to hire Washington State director of recruiting Marco Regalado as executive director of player personnel and recruiting innovation, a source tells On3.

It’s a return home for Regalado, a Texas native who was the running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at V.R. Eaton in Texas in 2020 prior to joining the staff at Washington State.

Regalado was previously on the staff at two other Texas high schools (Mathis and Santa Gertrudis) after working as a defensive line graduate assistant for three seasons at Texas A&M-Kingsville (2014-16).

Regalado originally joined Washington State as a recruiting assistant in 2021, then was promoted to director of on-campus recruiting and then to director of recruiting.

Washington State, which fired head coach Nick Rolovich in October before eventually hiring interim coach Jake Dickert as its new head coach, finished last season 7-6.

Rice was 4-8 last year after finishing 2-3 in 2020.
