Former Florida State QB Danny Kanell took a shot at Texas during Indiana’s tough game at Ohio State amid the College Football Playoff conversation.

With a lot of it stemming around strength of schedule, especially in the SEC, Kanell wanted to remind people of the resume of Texas, in addition to Indiana. Texas and Indiana were ranked No. 3 and 5 in the latest CFP rankings.

But when Kanell fired off his tweet, Indiana trailed Ohio State 28-7. So, he was ready to defend the Hoosiers by switching gears to Texas.

“This game is not going great for Indiana,” Kanell wrote on Twitter. “Reminds me a lot of how Texas got overwhelmed by Georgia. Except that game was a home for the Longhorns.”

Kanell referred to Texas’ rough loss to Georgia earlier this season. The Longhorns lost 30-15 at home, scoring all of their points in the third quarter.

Texas also switched between its quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning and nothing seemed to work. As Kanell put it, that was the toughest game for the Longhorns and they practically no-showed in his mind.

The same goes for Indiana, which boat-raced teams all year until the Ohio State game. Despite any outside noise, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian never wanted to shy away from immense expectations this season.

“I’m not one to shy away from that kind of stuff,” Sarkisian said after the win over Arkansas. “I mean, I think we all know what our goals are for the season. We want to be in Atlanta in December, compete for an SEC championship, and we want to be playing January 20th. But I don’t have to belabor the point. I don’t have to talk about it all the time with our guys.

“They know, and then once they know, and then we get focused on the task at hand and that’s the next week’s game, and we’ll celebrate this one here, you know, getting home and then it’s on to Kentucky.”

Sariskian knows Texas has to be at its best in order to win a loaded conference and eventually at least three games to win the national title in the CFP.

“We’re 9-1 for the second year in a row,” Sarkisian said Thursday. “We’re competing for a spot in the College Football Playoff for the second year in a row. Don’t forget what the last decade looked like. Let’s just remember how good we’ve got it right now and appreciate this team and how good they’re playing right now.”
