Personal Life
Anthony Richardson was an On3 Consensus four-star recruit coming out of Gainesville (Florida) Eastside in the 2020 recruiting class. During his high school career, he had 4,633 passing yards with 37 passing touchdowns, along with 1,633 rushing yards and 41 touchdowns. Richardson sparked excitement during the 2021 season as the backup to Emory Jones, including when he replaced Jones and went 10 of 19 for 167 yards and four overall scores against LSU. Through part of the 2022 season, Richardson was mentioned as a Heisman Trophy candidate, especially after he engineered Florida’s upset of No. 7 Utah early in the season. Gators coach Billy Napier says the sky is the limit for Richardson. “He has tremendous ability,” Napier said. “He’s working hard to develop, improve as a person, as a leader. He’s working hard to increase his football IQ. He’s primed for a phenomenal career.”
