Personal Life
Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman knows Benjamin Morrison is one of the best defenders he's ever coached. The stats and honors – including freshman All-America recognition after the 2022 season – prove that. But Freeman has pushed Morrison to be even better. "The challenge I have for myself and everybody in our program is we're chasing being the best version of ourselves," Freeman said. "It's going to make him even better. It's that Benjamin Morrison is chasing the best version of Benjamin Morrison. What’s the golden standard? It’s you getting as close as you can to being the best version of yourself, which in turn will help us as we try to reach our full potential. So, it's still the same challenge. But he's so close to reaching that full potential and becoming one of the best cornerbacks we've ever had at Notre Dame.” Morrison developed one of Notre Dame's most important defenders in his first two seasons with the program. A freshman All-America selection in 2022 after he debuted with six interceptions, tying Luther Bradley’s 49-year-old school record for freshmen, Morrison has become the golden standard for the Irish program. "When you line up across from someone, as a corner you have to deny him no matter what," Morrison said. "People think you are born with (that mindset), but you have to embrace it. You have to learn how to embrace that ... I am doing that."
