As a Recruit
Personal Life
Bryson Tucker is originally from Baltimore, and he began his high school career at Mount Saint Joseph. However, he transferred to Florida powerhouse program IMG Academy in Bradenton before his junior season. Tucker is also relatively young compared to his peers in the 2024 recruiting class. He will not turn 18 until after he graduates high school. Tucker’s father, Byron Tucker, played at NC State and George Mason. Tucker said he’s been training Bryson ever since he first picked up a basketball. “His strength right now is his IQ and his understanding of the game,” Byron Tucker told On3’s Joe Tipton. “Those are his major strengths, along with his fundamental skillset. I see him being a Cade Cunningham-type kid. When I talked to (Duke coach) Jon Scheyer, I told him it’s like Jayson Tatum and Grant Hill had a child together.” Tucker helped USA Basketball win the gold medal at the 2021 FIBA Americas Championship by averaging 9.5 points and 4.3 rebounds in the tournament. At the Chick-Fil-A Classic during the 2022-2023 high school basketball season, Tucker averaged 11 points and 4.3 rebounds, helping IMG go 2-1 in the tournament.
