Personal Life
David Bell was a superstar athlete out of Indianapolis. As a football player, he was an On3 Consensus four-star recruit and second-best player in Indiana according to the retrospective On3 Consensus. He led Indianapolis Warren Central to an undefeated season and state title as a senior in football and a junior in basketball. That was the first time ever in Indiana history the same high school accomplished both feats in the same year. He also won 2018 Gatorade Indiana Football Player of the Year. Bell and fellow superstar Rondale Moore were on Purdue during Bell’s first two seasons in West Lafayette, Ind., but they didn’t play much together due to injuries. He was the 2019 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and then first-team All-Big Ten as a sophomore. He is the son of Kareem Butler. His grandparents are Greg and Karen Butler. His grandmother uses a wheelchair, and it was a priority for Bell in his recruitment that she be able to attend his college games Bell is majoring in financial counseling and planning at Purdue.
