Ellis Davis Scouting Summary
5/24/23Highly skilled, athletic offensive tackle with a developmental body type and considerable ceiling as a prospect. Measured in at over 6-foot-6, 275 pounds prior to his senior season. Has plus length and the frame to add mass with a 33.5-inch arm and 10-inch hand. Primarily lines up at right tackle for his high school, but has also seen time on the left side. A light-footed, flexible athlete. Highly functional mover. Plays with a flat back and gets underneath much shorter defensive linemen. Flashes a complete skill set and some of the more refined technical ability among 2024 offensive line prospects. Shows light feet with the lateral agility to mirror and redirect in pass protection. Uses his feet and length to neutralize pass rushers. Plays with a great base and balance, particularly for a relatively lighter offensive line prospect (as a junior). Drops his weight to anchor on contact. Shows some dominant tendencies as a run blocker, notably at the second level. Climbs and swallows up linebackers. Understands hand placement and angles. Has a physical edge to his game and works to finish blocks. The natural power and pop along with functional strength and balance is highly encouraging for an offensive tackle with a developmental body type. Faces strong competition. Does not have as many verified athletic markers as some other top offensive line prospects. Has the upside to develop into one of the top offensive tackles in the cycle with further physical progression and added mass once he's in a college strength program.
