Duke track-and-field and cross-country star Emily Cole is originally from Houston Klein High School. She arrived at Duke and made an immediate impact. In the 2019 cross country season, she ran a 6K in 21:57.3 at the NCAA Southeast Regional. Then in the indoor track season, she ran a mile in 5:00.19 at the ACC Championships. During the 2021-2022 season, she was a second-team USTFCCA All-American in the 3,000-meter outdoor steeplechase, an ACC silver medalist in the steeplechase and a first-team all-league pick in the event. Her time of 9:48.20 is a school record. Cole is active away from running. She’s written a book called “The Players’ Plate” that’s available online. She also has a massive social media presence where she’s outspoken about a number of issues – including recognition of female student-athletes. With more than 93,500 followers on Instagram, she’s also very marketable to businesses looking for NIL deals. She’s executed deals with companies like nuuly, Dicks Sporting Goods, Garmin, Champs Sports and others. Cole also participated in the NIL Summit.
