Personal Life
Francisco “Kiko” Mauigoa is exactly who he is on and off the field. He's got a commanding voice – that's also low and steady – that demands respect in the locker room and on the field. He's humble and focused entirely on doing whatever is best for the team. And that's what made him one of the best defenders in college football during his time with the Miami Hurricanes. “He’ll be calm in the storm,” Hurricanes defensive coordinator Lance Guidry told the Miami Herald. Teammate Rueben Bain Jr. called Mauigoa the "hardest worker on the team." “He’s always pulling people up to the standard and holding people accountable," Bain said. "But then at the end of the day, he still has no problem being held accountable. He’s somebody that’s gonna come to work, no matter what the conditions are.” Mauigoa had a breakout 2023 season with the Hurricanes after spending his first two years of college football at Washington State. He led the ACC and tied for ninth nationally with 18 tackles for loss while also having 82 total tackles, seven-and-a-half sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception.
