Harold Perkins Scouting Summary

Charles Power

10/26/21

One of the best run and hit linebacker prospects in the last handful of classes. Makes big plays on both sides of the ball. Ability to chase plays from the weak-side with ease and fluidity. Improvement in taking on blocks and blowing up offensive linemen is evident on senior video. Has also improved in timing blitzes. Playing snaps at safety and linebacker as a senior. Hands and ball skills are on the high-end. Doubles as a big-play running back for Cy Park. Creates explosive plays by winning foot races and brute physicality. Averaging over 15 yards per carry and scoring on one out of every four carries as a senior. Has had a number of jaw-dropping athletic plays as a senior on offense, defense and special teams. Athleticism shows up on the Cy Park basketball team as well with many plays well above the rim. Athleticism carries over to the combine setting. Posted a 4.49 second 40-yard dash on grass prior to junior season at 200-pounds. Carrying nearly 210-pounds as a senior while retaining athleticism. Has the frame to carry over 230 pounds.

Harold Perkins entered the week at Under Armour as the de facto top linebacker prospect nationally. Perkins had a relatively quiet week. Some of that may have been due to seeing some time as a running back in practice. Still, we saw the Texas A&M commit’s elite athleticism on display over the course of the week. He’s one of the best athletes relative to his position in the cycle. Though he’s been listed at around 6-foot-3, Perkins looked to be closer to 6-foot-1 to our eyes.

We watched five-star linebacker Harold Perkins and his Cy Park team come away with an easy win over Rosenberg (Texas) Lamar Consolidated on Thursday. He showed off the athleticism as a big-play threat on offense, rushing for 95 yards and three touchdowns on just four carries. Perkins also had a 21-yard reception. The most impressive play may have come on special teams in defending a two-point conversion. Perkins burst through the line, forced a fumble, recovered the ball and raced down the sideline for two points. Perkins and Cy Park are 3-0 on the season.

Five-star linebacker Harold Perkins had an efficient Friday evening running for 106 yards and two touchdowns on just five carries in a blowout win over Houston (Texas) Cypress Ridge. Perkins is a top two-way athlete and is one of the more physically dominant players in the 2022 cycle, regardless of position.

Perkins has athleticism in spades. The 6-foot-2.5, 200-pounder is a dynamic player on both sides of the ball at Cypress (Texas) Cy Park. As a junior, Perkins scored 17 touchdowns on offense while rushing for nearly 1,000 yards and averaging over 10 yards per carry. He also recorded 14.5 tackles for loss from his linebacker spot. The Houston area product flies around the field and is able to make plays at all levels. The athleticism more than checks out in the camp setting as well. He ran a 4.49-second electronic 40-yard dash on grass prior to his junior season. That’s one of the better times we’ve seen over the past year.
