Jihaad Campbell Scouting Summary

Charles Power

10/28/21

Highly athletic, versatile edge defender who is an impact player on the most talented defense in high school football. Pairs high-end athleticism with positional versatility. Among the more athletic players on IMG Academy’s roster, clocking an electronically-timed 4.52 second 40-yard dash prior to his senior season. Plays as a rushing linebacker for IMG and has made the most splash plays on a defense that is two-deep with blue-chip prospects. Consistently wins as a pass rusher off the edge due to his first-step quickness and bend. Also has the ability to drop into space and play in coverage. Previously played off-the-ball at his high school in New Jersey, prior to transferring to IMG. Plays with high-energy both in practices and in games. Always shows up to compete, regardless of the setting. Will need to fill out his 6-foot-3, 210 pound frame to be a full-time EDGE at the next level.

Jihaad Campbell showed off legitimate positional versatility, working at both linebacker and EDGE at times in practice. The Alabama signee was among the more physically-impressive prospects in attendance and was the best linebacker throughout practice, in our opinion. Campbell looks to be a legitimate 6-foot-3.5 and has the athleticism and fluidity to play in space. He flipped over to EDGE during 1-on-1’s in practice and looked very good there as well. We saw the New Jersey native was one of Team Icons’ most active players in the game and had a nice open field tackle in the first half. Campbell looked like one of the better defensive prospects nationally over the course of the week.

Clemson EDGE commit Jihaad Campbell continued to show off his length and range against Cincinnati (Ohio) La Salle. He tracked down four-star Cincinnati running back commit Gi'Bran Payne from the backside. Campbell is off to a fast start in 2021.

Jihaad Campbell flashes against American Heritage

Clemson EDGE/linebacker commit Jihaad Campbell showed some high-end athleticism and a strong first step in IMG's season opener against American Heritage. The New Jersey native lined up both off-ball and as a stand-up rusher. On one occasion, he split the gap and darted into the backfield to blow up the play. The athleticism is evident. Campbell looks at his best when working off the edge at this point. He will need to continue adding mass but looks to be an ascending prospect as the No. 54 prospect in the 2022 On300.
