Personal Life

Julia Bergmann was born in Munich, Germany, but she moved to Brusque, Brazil in 2011 when she was in the fourth grade. She fell in love with volleyball because both of her parents played the sport, and she eventually signed with Georgia Tech in 2019. As a freshman, she led the teams in kills and was named the ACC’s Freshman of the year. Then in 2021, Bergmann helped the Yellow Jackets reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament. She was named an AVCA first-team All-American and the ACC Player of the Year. She finished the regular season No. 12 in the country in points (577.5) and 13th in kills (497), which both topped the ACC. Bergmann could have played on either the Brazilian or German national volleyball teams, but she chose to join Brazil’s team while at Georgia Tech. She made her debut at the 2019 Women’s Nations League tournament, earning a silver medal with the team. She also played in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League tournament in 2022. She is fluent in German, Portuguese, and English, and speaks some French and Spanish. She is majoring in applied langue.
