Kenny Minchey

After thriving as a sophomore when he stepped up in place of the injury starting quarterback, Kenny Minchey exploded as a junior at Hendersonville (Tenn.) Pope John Paul II. He threw for 3,280 yards and 32 touchdowns, leading the team to the state semifinals for the first team in school history. “He’s changed our program for the better, and not just on the field,” Pope John Paul II head coach Brian Sneed told Main Street Preps. Minchey says his hobbies include training and watching sports. He is the son of Tomeka and Kennith Minchey Sr. He has two siblings named Kayla and Kaesyn.

Kenny Michey's compact build and ability to make improvisational plays from within the pocket remind us of Brock Purdy. Minchey is taller than Purdy, while Purdy was more productive and more of a run threat at the high school level.

Elite / Top 100

Kenny Minchey had a good three days at the Elite 11 Finals. He was a Top Performer on Day 2 with one of the better pro day workouts and showed good zip on his throws throughout the week. Minchey has a compact, powerful build and was able to drive the ball out to the boundary and middle of the field with little strain. He was solid, but not spectacular in 7-on-7 on Thursday, with On3 charting him on target for 10 of 18 passes with one touchdown, one interception and a sack. The four-star signal caller showed one of the more well-rounded passing skill sets on hand and had a solid week, in our opinion.
