Nyla Brooks

Nyla Brooks first made national headlines when she was an eighth grader. Back in 2021, Brooks landed her first scholarship offer even though she hadn't played a second of varsity hoops. But it was easy to see early on why she's special, especially after strong play on the club circuit. Then as a junior in high school, Brooks led Bishop Ireton to its first ever state championship by averaging 19.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and one steal. "The strengths of my game start with my crossover, which I believe is a killer. I get a lot of people with that move,” Brooks said. “From that, I’m able to pull-up mid-range, which I believe I’m good at. Also, I’m good from the free throw line, which you have to be good at. I’m just going to keep doing what I’ve been doing and just try and continue to keep getting better. I know now that I have to work and probably put in more work."
