Paige Bueckers
Personal Life
Paige Bueckers has been a well-known name in the women’s basketball world long before she arrived at UConn. Coming out of Hopkins (Minnesota) High School, she was the No. 1 recruit in the country, the 2019-2020 Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year, a 2020 McDonald’s, SLAM and Jordan Brand Classic All-American and the 2020 Naismith Prep Player of the Year. She was also the 2019 USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year and the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup MVP. She arrived at UConn and immediately lived up to expectations, starting in 29 games. She was the first freshman to earn the Wooden Award, Naismith Trophy, AP Player of the Year and USBWA Player of the Year. She led the Huskies in points, assists, steals and 3-point field goal percentage and helped UConn reach the Final Four. In 2021-2022, Bueckers missed 19 games with a knee injury, but recovered in time to help UConn on another run to the NCAA championship game. She will miss the 2022-2023 season with an ACL injury but intends to return for the 2023-2024 season. As one of the top student-athletes in college sports, Bueckers already has a lengthy NIL portfolio, including Bose, Crocs, Gatorade and other top brands.
