Rickie Collins Scouting Summary

Charles Power

6/21/22

Three-sport signal caller who balls out on the gridiron and track as well as the hardwood. Stands 6-foot-2, 185 pounds with a 9-inch (or slightly smaller) hand. Athletic ability jumps off the tape when rolling out and on designed runs. Has a more elongated delivery, but throws an accurate ball at all levels of the field. Threw for 1,930 yards and 16 touchdowns on 113 completions with a 65% completion percentage during his junior season. Has solid ball ballistics and ability to drive the football. Will need to tighten up his motion in his release. Wins with his escapability and ability to extend plays. Ran an electronically-timed 4.74 40-yard dash and a 4.28 shuttle prior to his senior season. Hit 37.5 inches on the vertical as well during the spring camp circuit prior to his senior season. Jumped a 5-foot-10 high jump and a 21-foot-5 long jump during his junior track and field season. Leaping ability translates to the basketball court when he goes up to throw-it-down on dunks. Has a chance to be an immediate difference maker for a team at the Power 5 level.

Rickie Collins keeps Woodlawn competitive against Zachary

10/06/22

LSU commit Rickie Collins was under duress for much of the Baton Rouge (La.) Woodlawn vs. Zachary (La.) game on ESPN, as expected, and was able to consistently generate offense for Woodlawn with quick decisions and playmaking ability on the fly. With attention being paid to Collins as a runner, the Consensus four-star evaded pressure, made split decisions and took whatever the defense gave him. He came through with one TD and was the key source of offense for the Panthers. His ability to improvise seamlessly with a natural feel for the game and game-managing experience should translate well with a better surrounding cast of linemen and skill players.

6/30/22

The Baton Rouge Woodlawn product bounced back from an up and down Day 1 to turn in one of the better pro days we saw on Wednesday at the Elite 11 Finals. Collins was relaxed and natural in his drops and was able to throw with accuracy and touch to all levels. He was a bit up and down in 7-on-7 on Thursday, finishing on target for 8 of 17 passes for two touchdowns and one interception.

Rickie Collins named MVP of Elite 11 Baton Rouge

Sam Spiegelman • National Recruiting Analyst

3/19/22

Collins was a runaway MVP playing in his hometown. A three-sport athlete, Collins clocked a 4.74-second 40 with a 4.4-second shuttle and 37-foot power ball toss. Collins also notched a 37.5-inch vertical and earned a 96.84 SPARQ score. Collins was explosive going through his rollouts and drills and zipped the ball through windy conditions with ease; he was sharp throwing deep and on the run, and delivered strikes over and over throughout the event. Collins was decisive and threw with authority. As a junior, Collins accounted for more than 2,500 yards of total offense, including 2,000 yards passing. He plays with poise and confidence. He’s not only a talented passer but a well-rounded athlete that opens the playbook for off-schedule plays.

Rickie Collins lead team to upset of nationally-ranked Baton Rouge Catholic

Charles Power

10/29/21

Rickie Collins led his Woodlawn team to a thrilling 35-28 win over nationally-ranked Baton Rouge Catholic. Collins played well in the win, going 14 of 20 for 198 yards and one touchdown. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder showed some feel and instincts in handling pressure. Collins made a number of chains-moving plays on 3rd and 4th down. His playmaking ability and improvisational skills helped Woodlawn come away with the win. Collins used his mobility to get outside of the pocket and create some conflicts at the second level. As linebackers would close, Collins would answer by finding an open receiver downfield.
