Ruby Whitehorn
Personal Life
Ruby Whitehorn arrived at Clemson as one of the most heavily recruited basketball players in the country. Whitehorn averaged 24 points, 12.2 rebounds, 4.5 steals and four assists to lead Detroit Edison to the 2021-2022 state championship, scoring 28 points on 14-of-19 shooting while grabbing nine rebounds in a 73-55 win over Grand Rapids West Catholic. “She doesn’t have to have the ball in her hand to be successful,” said Edison coach Monique Brown of Whitehorn, who will play next year at Clemson. “She plays defense. She gets steals. She blocks shots, so she can change the game in any way possible on the floor and that’s what makes her so special.” Whitehorn was selected as the AP Player of the Year and was a McDonald’s All-American after her senior season.
