LSU was the only team that won on the field on Thursday at the SEC Softball Tournament. The real winner of the day was Mother Nature. Rain in the Auburn area meant play was suspended by nearly eight hours in the morning and then again at night, only allowing for one game to be played.

An upset occurred when softball was played, with LSU taking down Tennessee. Great pitching performances have been the story of the Tigers’ time on the Plains thus far. That continued en route to a 2-1 win, sending them to the semifinals.

Missouri was in a rally against Arkansas while up 2-1, having two runners on base with nobody out in the fifth inning. Lightning in the area originally meant a 30-minute delay would take place. Instead, play for the night was called and things will reset at 9 a.m. CT.

Friday was meant to only have two semifinal games but the quarterfinals must be rounded out. Game 8 between Florida and Georgia will have an early first pitch — presumably shortly after the conclusion of Arkansas-Missouri — with Texas A&M and South Carolina participating in Game 9 at some point.

Rain is expected to be falling in the morning but should be gone by the time things get underway from Jane B. Moore Field. Slowly but surely, the SEC Softball Tournament bracket is getting played out.
