One of the nation’s top edge rushers is moving across the country just weeks before the 2025 season kicks off. Five-star edge rusher Zyron Forstall announced Tuesday that he is transferring from New Orleans Jesuit to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Forstall is the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound dynamo is ranked only behind Georgia edge rusher LaDamion Guyton.

“Forstall is hyper-disruptive while lining up at multiple spots within the front seven,” national director of scouting and rankings Charles Power wrote in March. “At around 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, he makes eye-popping plays in pursuit, tracking down ball-carriers from sideline to sideline. The effort and play speed pair with physicality and emphatic finishing ability to make for a top pass-rushing prospect at this stage.”

The junior currently holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss, Texas, Texas A&M and USC, among others.

Forstall will join an Ascenders’ defensive line that is approaching embarrassment-of-riches territory. He’ll pair with four-star edge rusher Jake Kreul to terrorize opposing offensive lines. Four-star Cameron McHaney and three-stars Preston Carey, Cameron Brickle, James Morrow and Carmelo McKenzie will also anchor the team’s defensive front.

IMG Academy is scheduled to open up its season on Aug. 15 against The First Academy (Fla.) before key interstate matchups against Hoover (Ala.) and Winslow Township (N.J.).

Scouting Zyron Forstall

“Electric pass rusher who is already showing signs of dominance as a high school underclassman. Measured in at 6-foot-3.5, 235 pounds prior to his junior season. Registers as a strong athlete in the combine setting. An apex predator off the edge. Flashes excellent first-step quickness, knifing into the backfield with regularity. Considerable power at the point of attack. Sinks his hips and drives through offensive linemen. Lives behind the line of scrimmage, where he’s an emphatic, physical finisher. Has shown early signs of a pass rush skill set with an explosive spin move. Also lines up as an off-ball linebacker at times. Motor runs white hot. Stalks down ball carriers from sideline to sideline. Totaled nearly 30 tackles for loss and double-digit sacks as a sophomore. Has game-wrecking qualities, forcing fumbles at a high rate. Looks to be one of the top overall prospects in the 2027 cycle early on.” – Charles Power, National Director of Scouting and Rankings
