One of the top young quarterbacks in the state of Florida is transferring to a Georgia high school football power for his final two seasons.

Derrick Baker, a Class of 2027 QB, announced on Thursday that he is transferring from St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) to Milton (Ga.).

Across his freshman and sophomore seasons at Aquinas, Baker attempted 58 passes, completing 40 for 542 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s also ran for four scores across his two seasons with the Raiders. He appeared in just five games for the standout Florida program in 2024.

Earlier this month, 2026 three-star quarterback Mason Mallory announced that he was transferring from West Boca Raton (Fla.) to St. Thomas Aquinas for his senior season. Mallory led his former school to an undefeated season and Florida 6A state championship last year.

Baker is now heading up to Milton, where he’ll look to play for a program that finished as the top-ranked team in Georgia and the No. 4 team in the nation in 2024, according to the On3 Composite Rankings. The Eagles went 15-0 thanks to one of the best offenses in the country, headlined by Miami four-star QB signee Luke Nickel.

Nickel leaves big shoes to fill, as he threw for over 3,700 yards and 44 touchdowns as a senior, capping off an excellent career that witnessed over 120 total scores and more than 10,800 total yards. Milton won the Georgia 5A state title last month.

Baker is currently an unranked prospect, though he does possess more than 12 Power Four offers already. The likes of Miami, Indiana, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Ohio State and Illinois have offered him to this point.

Last summer, Baker inked an endorsement deal with Leaf Trading Cards. The dual-threat QB will look to make an impact in the Peach State in 2025 as his recruitment will continue to pick up.
