Four-star DB Brandon Lockhart transfers from Loyola to Sierra Canyon

Class of 2026 prospect Brandon Lockhart is the tenth-best cornerback among high school football seniors and the tenth-best prospect in California. However, before he represents the University of Southern California, he will play one season for the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers.
As veteran Los Angeles Times journalist Eric Sondheimer confirmed, Lockhart will be transferring from Loyola to Sierra Canyon. Being good friends with Madden Riordan and teaming up with fellow USC commit Ja’Myron Baker might have shaped his decision. Riordan is a three-star safety who also committed to USC.
In two seasons with the Cubs, Brandon Lockhart had 62 solo tackles, 30 passes defended, six interceptions, and six fumble recoveries in 33 games. He had five interceptions in ten games during his junior year.
Likewise, Lockhart completed two return touchdowns during his sophomore season. These accolades earned Lockhart a 93.90 On3 Industry Ranking, making him the 73rd best prospect in the nation. His lofty status earned him an invitation to the Under Armour All-American Game.

Brandon Lockhart will be joining a Sierra Canyon team that finished the 2024 California high school football season with an 8-4 record. The Trailblazers were on a six-game winning streak before losing to Mater Dei, the nation’s best high school football team, in the CIF Division 1 state quarterfinals. Conversely, Loyola finished with a 6-7 record and a semifinal loss to Simi Valley in the CIF Division 3 state tournament.
After his stint at Sierra Canyon, Lockhart will join his fellow defensive recruits Elbert Hill IV, Talanoa Ili, Tomuhini Topui, and Jaimeon Winfield at USC. The Trojans also bolstered their offense by getting the commitments of Keenyi Pepe, Mark Bowman, Shahn Alston II, Jonas Williams, and Esun Tafa.
