There’s a new team atop the Georgia high school football rankings after Week 7.

Following a dominant 34-3 win over rival Collins Hill, the Buford Wolves have overtaken Grayson for the top spot, according to the latest rankings from Massey Ratings. Grayson also won this week, routing Heritage 41-0. But the Wolves’ victory was enough to push them up just enough to take a one-one hundredths of a point advantage. The third-place team, Carrollton, is nearly a full tenth on a point back.

Each of the state’s top eight teams remain undefeated, and there was minor movement elsewhere after a weekend where the top teams largely held serve. The full top 25 can be found below:

1. Buford Wolves (6-0)

The Wolves have been dominant from the start of the season, and only continued that impressive run with the blowout win over Collins Hill. Quarterback Dayton Raiola threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another, while running back Dylan McCoy finished with 109 rushing yards and a score on 14 carries. Buford is heavily favored in each of its next three games before facing rival Mill Creek to close the season.

2. Grayson Rams (7-0)

Grayson remains unblemished and ranks as a consensus top-five team nationally, according to Massey, MaxPreps, ESPN and Sports Illustrated. They sit just a hair behind Buford and will have their chance to move back into the No. 1 spot before the season ends.

3. Carrollton Trojans (7-0)

The Trojans showed no rust coming off the bye week, routing Westlake 48-9 and moving to 7-0 on the season. Carrollton’s offense got off to a bit of a slow start, but got things rolling in the second quarter to take a 20-9 lead into halftime. From there, the rout was on the duo of Cam Wood and Peyton Zachary combined for for four touchdowns in the win.

4. Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets (6-0)

Thomas County Central faced some resistance last week in a 35-21 win over No. 19 Lee County, but that wasn’t the case this week. They rolled over Veterans 48-0 to keep their undefeated start alive. They face winless Northside October 10, but then will host undefeated Houston County (No. 16) the week after.

5. Creekside Seminoles (6-0)

Creekside’s dominant roll from outside the top 25 to inside the top 5 continued again this week as they rolled past Pace Academy 55-0. They’ve only allowed 56 points through seven games this season, and have now shut out five of their opponents.
