The center of the high school basketball universe is in Phoenix, Arizona, this week as the Hoophall West Classic kicks off.

Multiple programs in the On3 Composite High School Top 25 rankings are in action, including five of the top 10: St. John Bosco (Calif), Perry (Ariz.), Harvard-Westlake (Calif.), Roosevelt (Calif.), and Gonzaga (D.C.).

Headlining the first day was a showdown between Perry (No. 4) and Westlake (No. 6) to close out the day’s action. In a low-scoring affair, the Wolverines pulled out a 57-54 victory to move to 16-1 on the season.

Duke signee Nikolas Khamenia led Harvard-Westlake in the win, finishing with a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds.

Perry’s D’andre Harrison, a Missouri-Kansas City commit, hit 7 of his 17 attempts to finish with a team-high 17 points. Five-Star Plus+ forward Koa Peat, one of the nation’s top overall recruits, had 14 points and 12 rebounds, but it ultimately proved not enough in the loss.

“We struggled shooting the ball tonight, but a lot of that had to with the team we were playing,” Perry coach Sam Duane Jr. told AZPreps365. “(Westlake) plays great defense, they have great size and they’re well coached.”

California’s No. 1 team rebounds with a big victory

Harvard-Westlake came into the week as the Golden State’s No. 2 team in the On3 Composite rankings, behind only Bellflower’s St. John Bosco. The Braves were off to a 14-0 start before losing a heartbreaker to Roosevelt (Calif.) earlier this week.

But they used a dominant defensive performance on Thursday to handily beat Arizona’s No. 3 team, Sandra Day O’Connor.

The Braves did not trail the entire contest in a 58-42 blowout win. Junior forward Christian Collins, — a top-10 prospect nationally in the 2026 class — led the way with a game-high 22 points and 14 rebounds while shooting 8-of-14 from the field.

Bosco’s defense held O’Connor without a made field goal for the first seven-plus minutes of the opening quarter. And they were just as dominant in the second half, limiting the Eagles to just six made baskets on 23 percent shooting from the floor.
