Illinois High School Boys Basketball Rankings: On3 Composite Top 25 Teams - January 24
As the Illinois high school boys basketball season continues, those included in the Illinois On3 Composite Rankings Top 25 continue to dominate. However, DePaul College Prep overtakes Bolingbrook for the top spot. Here are the state’s best teams, with two making it to the nationwide top 100.
The On3 Composite High School Basketball Team Ranking is a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected High School media and data companies. It includes Massey, Max Preps, Cal Preps, ESPN, and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced High School Team Ranking.
1. DePaul College Prep
After losing to Kenwood Academy, the Rams have rattled off 17 consecutive victories, including their 59-45 win over Immaculate Conception. However, a tough challenge awaits the nation’s 26th-best team as they host seventh-ranked Brother Rice.
2. Bolingbrook
The Raiders extended their winning streak to 11 games after beating Benet Academy on January 20. Facing a 29-20 halftime deficit, Bolingbrook outscored Benet Academy 44-24 to claim their 20th victory this season. Davion Thompson led the way with 23 points, while JT Pettigrew added 18. The nation’s 79th-best team will aim to keep their streak alive against Joliet West.
3. Homewood-Flossmoor
The Vikings are on a six-game winning streak after dominating Bradley-Bourbonnais 88-59. Jayden Tyler had an all-around performance with 32 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks. Meanwhile, Ethan Howard had 12 points, five rebounds, and eight assists. Homewood-Flossmoor’s Illinois high school boys basketball season continues with a road game against Sandburg.
4. Kenwood Academy
The Broncos are at 21-1 after a 76-54 victory over Curie. It’s also their eighth consecutive victory after losing to Rich Central Campus. Kenwood Academy will aim for their 22nd victory this season against Whitney Young on January 28.
5. Quincy
After their 59-56 loss to Vashon, Missouri’s second-ranked team, the Blue Devils have won five consecutive games. That streak includes their 51-21 victory over Lincoln Community, the lowest points they’ve allowed this year. Quincy proceeds with their season against Geneseo on January 24.
6. Waubonsie Valley
The Warriors remain undefeated in the 2024-25 Illinois high school boys basketball season after beating Stevenson last January 20. Save for their 49-48 victory over Neuqua Valley, all their victories were by double digits. Waubonsie Valley continues its campaign against Metea Valley.

7. Brother Rice
The Crusaders dropped to seventh after back-to-back losses to St. Ignatius and Marist. Before those setbacks, Brother Rice won 16 of their first 17 games, enough to keep them in the top ten. Brother Rice will face top-ranked DePaul College Prep in their next assignment.
8. Evanston Township
While the Wildkits came up short against Rolling Meadows, they’ve won four straight games, including a 60-34 win over Deerfield. Evanston Township can improve to 17-3 by defeating Metamora on January 25.
9. Benet Academy
The Redwings are coming off a loss against second-ranked Bolingbrook. It’s their second loss in the last three games. Before this rough stretch, Benet Academy went 16-2 to start their campaign. The Redwings continue their season against Carmel Catholic.
10. Hinsdale Central
The Red Devils improved to 17-2 after a 61-60 nailbiter against Notre Dame College Prep. They are on a 15-game winning streak after back-to-back losses against Guilford and Glenbard West. Hinsdale Central will proceed to a home game against Proviso West in their next match.
