Klein (Texas) hires Fulshear's Nick Codutti as new head football coach
Klein (Texas) High tabbed Nick Codutti as its next head football coach, officially announcing the move on Monday.
Codutti makes the move to Klein after spending four seasons as the head coach at Fulshear, where he compiled a 39-10 record. The 2024 season saw Fulshear put together its best campaign in program history, finishing with a 12-1 record, losing in the third round of the 6A-D1 playoffs.
Codutti replaces longtime head coach Shane Hallmark, who has now retired after originally taking the reins in 2010.
“Becoming a part of the rich traditions and close-knit community at Klein High School is truly an honor,” Codutti said in a statement announcing the hire. “I look forward to contributing to the legacy of excellence and fostering a family environment where every student feels valued and supported.”

Klein is coming off a ho-hum 6-4 season that saw it not make the playoffs. The Bearkats won three of their first four games but faltered down the stretch in district play, going 3-3 the rest of the way. They finished as the No. 132 team in the state, per the On3 Composite Rankings.
Fulshear put together a dominant 2024 season, averaging over 50 points per game. The Chargers’ championship run was cut short in the regional semifinals, as they fell to top-10 Atascocita, 47-42. Fulshear finished as the No. 41 team in the Lone Star State.
Codutti averaged over nine wins a season during his tenure at Fulshear. Klein hasn’t reached the seven-win mark since the 2017 season. Fulshear has eclipsed the 10-win mark in each of the last three seasons under Codutti, who was just the second head coach in program history.
