Missouri high school football championships to use instant replay

Look out high school football fans, instant replay is coming to another state championship series this fall. According to a press release from the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA), the organization will be implementing the use of instant replay in their football state championships this upcoming 2025 season.
The implementation of replay will be used for the Show-Me Bowl championship games, to be played at Missouri Western State University’s Spratt Memorial Stadium, is a result of a vote from the MSHSAA Board of Directors’ June 18th meeting.
“Beginning this season, instant replay will be implemented for Football Show-Me Bowl games only. The replay system is intended to correct obvious and potentially game-changing errors — not to re-officiate routine plays.,” the MSHSAA said via a press release.
Missouri Western State is under a 4-year deal to host the MSHSAA state finals, which includes six classifications that feature 11-on-11 tackle and then another title game for 8-on-8 tackle. Now it will be equipped come state championship time to use instant replay for high school football in the winter.

It’s not the first time, however, a state has decided to utilize instant replay for the postseason or state championships. 16 other states have used instant replay at one point or another, which includes the following: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.
Among other changes from the June 18 meeting was another step towards the sanctioning of girls flag football, with the MSHSAA voting to recognize girls flag as an emerging sport. Unified Track & Field was another sport that also acknowledged as an emerging sport for the 2025-2026 school year.
