North Crowley upsets Duncanville in Texas UIL semifinal game
Duncanville (Texas) strolled into the UIL 6A semifinals with the best quarterback and wide receiver duo in the country — and a team that ranked No. 1 in the state of Texas and No. 2 in the United States, per the On3 Massey Ratings.
Going up against North Crowley (Texas) — the nation’s No. 4 high school football team — Duncanville fell short for the first time this season. North Crowley upset Duncanville 36-34 in a back-and-forth nailbiter, ending Duncanville’s hopes for a three-peat.
The game started off with a bang for North Crowley who scored two first quarter touchdowns on either side of a successful onside kick.
Colorado wide receiver signee Quentin Gibson accounted for the first touchdown while UNLV RB signee Cornelius Warren reeled in the second TD pass of the evening from North Texas QB signee Chris Jimerson.
Gibson and Warren also found the end zone twice for North Crowley in a battle of a fourth quarter that saw two touchdowns from each team.

For Duncanville, Alabama QB signee Keelon Russell threw for over 300 yards and accounted for three touchdowns while Oregon WR signee Dakorien Moore caught seven passes for 138 yards and a score.

The top honor in high school sports, Gatorade Player of the Year celebrates the nation’s best high school athletes for their success on the field, in the classroom and in their communities.
North Crowley over Duncanville was not the only UIL 6A semifinal upset of the weekend. Houston North Shore, the No. 8 team in America, was taken down by Austin (Texas) Westlake 35-10. According to The Dallas Morning News, a Duncanville-North Shore matchup would have been the first time in UIL 11-man history that the same two teams would have met in four consecutive state championship games.
Westlake and North Crowley will play in the state title game next Saturday at 7 p.m. Central Time at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
