The 2025 high school football season will be getting underway in less than six weeks, which means it’s officially preview season. Rivals is breaking down the nation’s top teams from coast-to-coast, and today we make our way to the Peach State and get our eyes on Georgia’s No. 1 team, Buford. The Wolves are a serious contender to take the GHSA Class AAAAAA state championship this fall and feature a star-studded roster from top to bottom.

Player Spotlight: QB Dayton Raiola

After quarterbacking the Wolves as a junior, following up his brother Dylan, Dayton Raiola heads into his second season at the helm of the offense looking to go out with a bang. The Nebraska commit was one of Georgia’s most efficient passers last season as the southpaw completed 115 of 203 passes for nearly 2,000 yards, 19 touchdowns and just a mere three picks. The defense is loaded with Power Four talent, but it’ll be the offense that has to step up if Buford wants to end a season in hoisting a state title trophy.

Others to watch: EDGE Bryce Perry-Wright, S Tyriq Green, IOL Graham Houston, EDGE Dre Quinn, S Nascar McCoy, RB Dylan McCoy, S Jax Pope, QB DJ Hunter, OT Ben Mubenga, TE Dream Rashad, S Jameer Cantrell

Season Prediction: 10-0

The Buford Wolves are the team to beat in Georgia’s AAAAAA and, after last year’s early exit out of the postseason, they’re looking to finish the mission in their new digs. Opening the season up with a win over the Milton Eagles will set the tone for the rest of the season as Buford drives to go undefeated and come away with a state crown. Armed with arguably the most talented defense they’re had in quite some time, the Wolves not winning a state title would be a disappointment with the number of Power Four talents dotted along the roster.
