The 2025 high school football season will be getting underway in less than five weeks, which means it’s officially preview season. Rivals is breaking down the nation’s top teams from coast-to-coast, and today we head to the Lone Star State where high school football is a way of life. Duncanville fell short of winning a UIL Class 6A-Division I state championship last year, but the Panthers are always in the conversation on an annual basis. Can they get by North Crowley this time around and get back to the state title game?

Player Spotlight: EDGE Kevin Ford

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound senior defensive end has already committed to Florida and the four-star is arguably the top defender of the team’s returning starters this fall. Kevin Ford has a high motor and that shows with his impact on the field based. The edge rusher totaled 57 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and seven sacks as a junior. Looking at this Duncanville defense, Ford heads up what could be one of the top defensive lines in Texas.

Others to watch: EDGE Landon Barnes, WR Trenton Yancey, ATH Zachery Taylor, DB Braylon Edwards, ATH Ayson Theus

Season Prediction: 8-0

We don’t see a single hiccup occurring during the regular season. You can just about book it that Duncanville will run through its first eight games as the team makes another run toward a state title. Then comes the problem of somehow upending defending 6A-Division I champ North Crowley. Both teams will meet and this will be nothing less of a slobberknocker between the two Texas powerhouses. What we end up predicting is that Duncanville falls in the state semifinals to North Crowley, denying Reginald Samples of potentially a fairy tale ending to a legendary coaching career.

Game-By-Game Predictions

Sep. 5 – South Oak Cliff (Texas) Golden Bears – W
Duncanville comes right out of the gates on fire with a 48-14 rout of South Oak Cliff.

Sept. 19 – at Waxahachie (Texas) Indians – W
If you thought there would be any let down from the first game, there isn’t as the Panthers cruise on the road in a 46-14 victory.

Sept. 26 – Skyline (Texas) Raiders – W
Second home game of the season goes swimmingly as the Panthers roll in a 46-7 rout.

Oct. 10 – DeSoto (Texas) Eagles – W
Could this be the game of the year? Environment wise, there might not be much that can stack up to this. Spoiler alert: Duncanville walks away still undefeated after a 38-28 win.

Oct. 17 – at Lancaster (Texas) Tigers – W
Coming off an emotionally and physically draining win, the Panthers keep it going with win No. 5.

Oct. 24 – Horn (Texas) Jaguars – W
There’s no issues back at home against the Jaguars in a 46-7 blowout victory.

Oct. 31 – at Mesquite (Texas) Skeeters – W
Road games have been no problem for Duncanville as they cruise to another running clock win.

Nov. 6 – Cedar Hill (Texas) Longhorns – W
The regular season finale ends in typical fashion: A rout. Panthers close out the regular season undefeated heading into the UIL 6A-Division I playoffs.
