The 2025 high school football season will be getting underway in less than six weeks, which means it’s officially preview season. Rivals is breaking down the nation’s top teams from coast-to-coast, and today we make our way west to the Pelican State where we examine the regular season slate for John Curtis. The 28-time state championship football program remains in the hunt for its 29th title, but faces one of Louisiana’s tougher schedules.

Player Spotlight: RB Jacobi Boundreaux

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound senior running back returns for his final season in the backfield for the Patriots after a strong junior campaign. Jacobi Boundreaux finished 2024 rushing for 737 yards on 104 carries and five touchdowns. With a handful of seniors having graduated from last year’s team, including leading rusher Reggie Johnson, the team will lean on Boundreaux as its feature back. Rushing for well over 1,000 yards this fall is within reach.

Others to watch: S Jaden Keelen, RB Nate Alario, LB/EDGE Ben Barron, LB Jefferey Curtis

Season Prediction: 9-1

We see the Patriots improving upon their record from a year ago when they went 7-6 and reached Louisiana’s Division I state semifinals before falling to Alexandria. John Curtis Christian can get back to the semifinals, but the team will fall short of claiming the program’s 29th state championship. Whether they run up against Alexandria again or Edna Karr in the state title game, the Patriots won’t have enough to win it all come December.
