The Texas high school football season has begun to give a much clearer overall picture as teams are currently at the midway point or second half of their respective campaign.

The Southlake Carroll Dragons kept up their winning ways as the state’s No. 1 with another blowout victory while the Prosper Eagles moved up into the No. 5 spot this week’s rankings. So which other Lone Star State programs made a move up the latest set of Top 25 rankings?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Texas high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Oct. 5.

1. Southlake Carroll Dragons

Southlake Carroll are destined to go 10-0 this season based on the way they’re playing. The Dragons have been by far the most consistent team in Texas high school football season and every week on the field, the validate that.

The Dragons (6-0) started the 2025 season off with a bang when they cruised to a 49-0 rout of Midland and followed it up with a 35-7 thrashing of Hebron. Southlake Carroll’s latest victory was a 63-28 rout of Keller last week.

Pittsburgh commit Angelo Renda (1,805 yards, 20 touchdowns) and his favorite target, Ohio State pledge Brock Boyd, who hauled in 111 passes for 1,868 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2024, remain the state’s top quarterback-wide receiver tandem. Boyd through six games has caught 37 passes for 527 yards and eight touchdowns.

This week the undefeated Dragons go on the road to take on Eaton (3-2).

2. Allen Eagles

Five-time UIL state champion Allen Eagles (5-0) hold steady as the state’s No. 2 team after a 62-0 thrashing of McKinney a week and a half ago.

The Eagles have been dominant through their first five games as they opened with a 46-13 victory over Midland Legacy, breezed by Cedar Hill, 38-0 and then thumped Rock Hill in a 70-14 rout before cruising past Plano in a 55-0 romp.

Allen faces off against Princeton (4-1) this week and the game the Eagles will likely be eyeing is a Oct. 24 meeting with No. 5 ranked Prosper.

The Eagles have utilized both senior Jeremiah Daoud and freshman quarterback Ty Snell behind center this season. Daoud has completed 54 of 68 passes for 738 yards and eight touchdowns and Snell has thrown for 308 and four scores. Key stat is neither quarterback has yet to throw an interception this season.

3. North Crowley Panthers

North Crowley (4-1) had a week to stew on things after stunned by Rockwall in a 37-35 decision, which dropped them from the top spot in the state. The Panthers bounced back nicely, however, in a 68-0 thrashing of Mansfield Legacy a week and a half ago.

What head coach Ray Gates and his staff have to figure out is how they will get the team refocused after losing for the first time since 2023. North Crowley still keeps its sights set on winning the UIL Class 6A, Division I state championship this fall.

The Panthers still feature what has to still be considered one of the more talented defensive secondaries in the Lone Star State, which includes players like Texas Tech commit Aaron Bradshaw, three-star safety Elijajuan Houston, four-star cornerback Jerry Outhouse and Colorado State commit Thomas Cook

The Panthers are coming off a bye week and return to play this Friday night when they take on Lake Ridge (4-1).

4. Aledo Bearcats

The Aledo Bearcats (6-0) escaped on the road last week when they edged previously undefeated Ryan (4-1), 15-14.

Despite last year’s starter Gavin Beard transferring to All Saints Episcopal, which opened the door for Nash McElree to emerge as the team’s QB1, and the Aledo Bearcats (5-0) have looked just fine in the first few weeks of play.

Aledo has simply taken care of business week after week, starting against a solid Lancaster squad, coming away with the 18-0 win then dispatching Brewer, 54-7, easily rolling by Birdville in a 56-7 rout and then Fossil Ridge most recently before defeating Ryan.

The Bearcats returns home this week to face off against Granbury (2-3).

5. Prosper Eagles

The Prosper Eagles (5-0) started the season off with an impressive victory over Westlake in a 29-22 decision and then upended Rockwall-Heath, 45-27. Eagles latest win was a 72-3 thumping of Rock Hill last week.

Up front on the offensive line, the team features a trio of future FBS commitments in four-stars Bryce Gilmore (Arkansas), Zaden Krempin (Texas A&M), Sean Stover (Duke) and 6-foot-4, 285-pound junior Will Endicott.

Prosper is back at home this week when they face off versus Plano (4-2).
