As the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, former Michigan star Aidan Hutchinson will be able to sign a four-year, $35.7 million contract with the Detroit Lions, including a $23.1 million signing bonus. The contract comes fully guaranteed with a 5th year option available, according to Spotrac.

Compare Hutchinson’s contract details to No. 1 overall pick Travon Walker‘s, which is a four-year, $37.4 million fully guaranteed deal with a $24.6 million signing bonus.

The Detroit Lions ensured Hutchinson, a Michigan native, will stay close to home a will live comfortably doing so. Hutchinson, who played in 43 career games at Michigan, was a consensus All-American in 2021 and a two-time All-Big Ten honoree. He was also twice named a captain of the team and has a laundry list of other awards he racked up following this past season. Hutchinson is the program record-holder for sacks in a single season, notching 14 for the Wolverines in 2021, which was enough to earn the No. 2 pick in the draft and a boatload of cash to boot.

Hutchinson spoke to NFL Network’s Melissa Stark shortly after his selection, expressing his gratitude toward the Lions as well as his excitement to get started.
