DeSoto (Texas) High wide receiver Johntay Cook II is one of the top skill positions players in the 2023 recruiting cycle.

The 6-foot wideout is known for his athletic ability and skills on the football field but he has tremendous hops as well.

A video posted online Tuesday has Cook showing off his bunnies with a massive one-handed poster dunk in what looks like his high school gym.

And to top it all off, he was wearing a Texas A&M shirt.

Cook is the No. 85 recruit in the 2023 On300 rankings and 14th-overall wideout in the class. He holds offers from over 30 schools but trimmed his list down to 12 schools in early September.

Those 12 schools are Alabama, Florida, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Texas, Texas A&M and USC.

“These schools are in my top 12 because I’ve been interested in them for a while now, and can actually see myself playing in these uniforms,” Johntay Cook told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “Also, when September 1st hit, these schools made me feel like more of a priority.”

Johntay Cook is a great route runner and playmaker

More often than not, Johntay Cook scores a touchdown when he touches the ball on offense for Desoto High. He has 24 catches on the season and 13 touchdowns. He averages over 21 yards per catch and has a 99-yard touchdown on the year.

On3’s Gerry Hamilton said Cook has tremendous athleticism and speed for a playmaking wide receiver.

“Johntay Cook is one of the top receiver prospects in Texas, and nationally in the 2023 class,” Hamilton said. “He has displayed the ability to separate out of cuts at a young age. His ability to get into routes quickly, and sink his hips and burst out of cuts stands out. Flashes the ability to take a bump, and maintain balance to make a play on the ball. When he gets the arms extended, he’s a playmaker after the catch. Making the move to outside receiver after playing in the slot as a sophomore. Has maintained quickness and speed as he has added weight since last season.”
