Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones is re-signing with the Vikings on a two-year deal worth $20 million, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The deal includes $13 million guaranteed. The news was announced on Sunday evening. And the contract was negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus, one of the most prominent agents in league history.

Jones once again emerged as a dynamic all-purpose running back this year for the Vikings. He played a critical role in their special season this year. He had 255 carries for 1,138 rushing yards, to go along with five touchdowns on the ground. As a receiver, Jones had 51 catches for 408 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

He’s long been one of the most dynamic running backs in the NFL and Jones once again proved it this year with the Vikings. He’s had four seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards in his career. As a receiver, he’s hauled in over 300 receiving yards five times. That includes two seasons with more than 400 receiving yards, once in 2019 when he hauled in 474 receiving yards and this year (2024-2025), when he finished with 408 receiving yards.

Throughout his impressive career, Jones has racked up 1,432 carries for 7,078 rushing yards and 50 touchdowns on the ground. As a receiver, he’s hauled in 323 catches for 2,484 receiving yards. He’s certainly been one of the more under-the-radar stars in the NFL over the years. Regardless of his team or situation, Jones has managed to put-up big-time numbers in several different seasons in his career.

The Vikings finished with a 14-3 record this season, making it to the NFL Playoffs, where they were ousted by the LA Rams, 27-9. Jones, Sam Darnold, and Justin Jefferson all teamed up to form one of the more dynamic offensive attacks in the NFC this year.

During his college football career with the UTEP Miners, Jones finished with 4,114 total rushing yards. He’s still the school’s all-time leading rusher and by a significant margin. Jones also holds the single-season rushing yardage record for the Miners, when he had 1,773 rushing yards in 2016. He is second-all time with 33 rushing touchdowns. Jones’ 4,760 career all-purpose yards and 136.0 yards per game average are both second all-time in Miner football history.
