Jaxon Richardson, a four-star small forward in the 2026 class, says he is currently hearing from six schools the most (in no particular order): Cincinnati, Alabama, Michigan, USC, Louisville, and Seton Hall.

He does not have a top list of schools and also holds offers from UCF, Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma State, Maryland, and more.

Richardson has taken unofficial visits to Michigan and Alabama.

The 6-foot-6 junior out of Columbus High (Miami, FL) is the No. 27 overall recruit in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 11 small forward and the No. 5 player in Florida.

Jaxon Richardson is the son of Jason Richardson, former NBA player and Michigan State National Champion (’00). Jason, a native of Saginaw, Michigan, was drafted 5th overall in 2001 by the Golden State Warriors. He went on to play for five teams in his 14-year NBA career, averaging 17.1 PPG. He was also a two-time NBA Slam Dunk Constest champion in ’02 and ’03.

Jaxon’s older brother, Jase, is currently having a strong freshman season at Michigan State where he is averaging 9.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

Jaxon Richardson talks Michigan and Alabama

In a recent interview with On3’s Jamie Shaw, Jaxon Richardson discussed his unofficial visits to Michigan and Alabama.

ALABAMA: “I learned a lot of about what kind of style they play and how they want to play. What want to get out fast and shoot a lot of threes. I also know more about the coaches after my visit.

“They showed me some of their offensive sets and defensive sets and what their plan was to incorporate me into them. I think I fit in well with their style because they really space the floor. That opens things up for me to get downhill in the lane and drive. I can use my athleticism to score or dish out to help teammates.”

MICHIGAN: “They have a nice play style. They just play together and they play as a team. I feel like I could fit into what they do because I’m a team player. So just being able to make the extra pass or get the extra rebound, I feel like I could really help with that.

Coach (Dusty) May texts me a lot. I love coach May and we have a good relationship and feel like we can really grow.”

What he’s looking for in a school

Jaxon also discussed with Shaw what he is looking for in a college.

“I’m going to be looking for a school that I trust will develop me and a program I know I can help out, play in the right system. I’m most comfortable in a system that moves the ball and just, you know, plays the right way. I want to go somewhere I can just, like, hop into the system and won’t have to really learn anything new.”
