4-star athlete Jalewis Solomon locks in his commitment date
Late in June, Jalewis Solomon trimmed his list to five schools. Auburn, Florida State, Kentucky, South Carolina and Texas A&M made the cut for the No. 230 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings.
Now, he has a commitment date in mind: August 5.
“That is my commitment date. It is set,” Solomon told On3. “I have thought about it and I want to go ahead and get it done. We play a scrimmage game the night before, so I will commit the next day, then get set for my senior season.”
Solomon said all five finalists are still in the running for his commitment. He took visits to all but Auburn in June. South Carolina will host Solomon again on July 28. Then he will focus on making his decision a week later.
“I want to go somewhere close to home, but not too close. I am a relationship guy, so relationships are very important too. My connection with the coaches, players and recruits are things I am looking at as well. It comes down to where I am most comfortable. Who makes me feel like a big priority is a factor as well.”

Auburn: “They’re coming at me real hard. Coach Crime (Wesley McGriff) wants me really bad and said that as soon as he gets me, their class will be locked in. Coach Freeze always tells me how much love and support he has for my family and that I’m his top priority guy.”

South Carolina: “I remember my first time up there and the fans were acting like it was my 50th time there. They love you down there regardless of who you are. I love the players, the staff and everyone makes it feel like home.”
Texas A&M: “After putting on a great show for the coaches, Coach Fisher told me I could play any position that I wanted. He just needed me on the field.”
