Brunswick (Ga.) four-star athlete Heze Kent is down to five schools in his recruitment, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Friday.

Among the remaining contenders are: Florida, Florida State, Miami, Texas and Alabama.

The 6-foot-6, 245-pounder is the No. 118 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He also ranks as the nation’s No. 6 athlete and No. 16 recruit in Georgia.

Florida, Florida State and Miami have been mainstays

Kent named his top 10 schools back in June, and each of the big three in Florida made the list. He visited each program for a game this fall, and also returned to Florida in December before the recruiting dead perio.d

It is about relationships for Kent, and Florida, Florida State and Miami all have coaches he likes.

“With Florida, I love who coach Billy Napier is,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons at the time. “He is a God-loving man and just a good person that always keeps it real. I like coach Russ Callaway too. He moved to the offensive coordinator role, so I know he will use the tight end in the offense.

“Coach Mike Norvell at Florida State is a cool guy. He is chill and laid back, but don’t push his buttons. He is a coach that wants the best for his players. With Miami, it is coach Mario Cristobal and coach Cody Woodiel. I love them both. I love how the whole staff works together at Miami.”

As a junior, Kent did a little bit of everything for Brunswick. He rushed 32 times for 211 yards and eight touchdowns, as well as hauling in 41 passes for 983 yards and eight more scores.

In total, he amassed more than 1,100 all-purpose yards while helping Brunswick to a 10-2 regular season and second-round appearance in the Georgia 5A state playoffs.
