Jackson Keith, a four-star small forward in the 2025 class, has committed to Butler and head coach Thad Matta, he told On3.

The 6-foot-5 senior out of Southern High School (NC) chose the Bulldogs over a final group of Tennessee, VCU, East Carolina, and UCF.

Keith is the No. 111 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 27 small forward prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Keith on his commitment to Butler

Jackson Keith went in-depth on his decision to choose Butler with On3.

“I chose Butler because when they first saw me play two years ago, they believed in my abilities. That belief never faded, in fact…. it only strengthened. They identified my strengths and weaknesses, and they know that I am the type of player who is willing to work to improve every aspect of my game. Coach Matta believes that I can contribute to winning games from day one.”

What led to his trust in coach Matta and the coaching staff?

“The entire staff was amazing! The visit was great. Everyone we met was genuine and committed to making Butler basketball the best in every aspect, including academically. My parents loved it. Coach Matta and the entire Butler staff want me to reach my ceiling and in the process, be a part of a great tradition of basketball.”

In his own words, what type of player is Butler getting in Jackson Keith?

“I would describe my game as being a Swiss Army knife. I can defend several positions. I can score from all three levels on the court. I’ve worked hard to improve my jumpshot and look forward to learning how to make the right reads in certain situations at the college level. My goal is to be a dominant player, both offensively and defensively.”

Keith has a message for Butler fans.

“To all the Butler fans, I’m beyond excited to be Dawg! I can’t wait to experience Hinkle and the Dawg Pound! #DawgsOnly #TheButlerWay”

Scouting Report

“Jackson Keith is a confident wing. Standing around 6-foot-5, he can handle, get into his spots, and shoot with range. The jump shot can get a little flat at times, but he has good footwork in the mid-range. He is confident as a secondary initiator and can get a team into sets. Keith is a solid athlete, still growing into his frame. He is trending as a national level-type recruit.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
