Brandon Lee, a four-star shooting guard in the 2025 class, has committed to Illinois and head coach Brad Underwood, he told On3.

The 6-foot-3 senior out of The Patrick School (NJ) chose the Fighting Illini over offers from Seton Hall, George Washington, Duquesne, Rhode Island, High Point, Missouri State, and others.

Lee is the No. 87 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 21 shooting guard prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Lee on his commitment to Illinois

Brandon Lee discussed his decision to choose Illinois with On3.

“I chose Illinois because I felt that they had the necessary resources for me to continue to grow as a basketball player but most importantly as a student and person overall,” he told On3.

What led to his trust in the coaching staff?

“Coach Underwood, Coach Antigua and the entire staff were extremely welcoming and they emphasized a number of ways in which they can take my game to the next level and help me achieving my dream of being a pro.”

In his own words, what type of player is Illinois getting in Brandon Lee?

“I would describe myself as a player who is willing to do whatever it takes to win. A three-level scorer that can defend multiple positions someone who works extremely hard to put myself as well as my team in a position to be successful.”

He has a message to Illini fans.

“To the Illini fans, I am extremely excited and ready to play in front of you all and bring amazing memories. Im looking forward to helping illinios continue their winning tradition and one day bring a NCAA Championship to Champaign.”

Lee noted as a standout earlier this summer

Brandon Lee was a standout earlier this summer at the EYBL Session in Indianapolis earlier this summer:

There is something to be said for a player who simply goes out and puts points on the board. In three of his four games this weekend, Brandon Lee put up 20 or more points. While the efficiency numbers need some tightening, he scored the ball at each level, showing touch as well as feel in the mid-range. Lee is a 6-foot-3 off-guard. He was able to self-create off the bounce and when the ball was not falling, he attacked the rim and got to the free-throw line. His confidence was apparent early, and The Patrick School/NJ guard carried that through the weekend.

Lee averaged 20.8 points this weekend getting to the free-throw line 9.0 times and shooting 91.7 percent from the line.
