Harrell talks programs involved
In a previous interview with On3, Jaylen Harrell discussed several of the schools involved in his recruitment.
Alabama: “Alabama is in my top six because they’re doing great this season, top 10 in the country. They’re the best scoring program in the nation. They have a NBA style of play and their system revolves around scoring. I could see myself in their program who can score for them, while also facilitating on defense and rebounding. I’m very close to assistant coach Preston Murphy and now we are just finding a good time to visit.”

Providence: “Providence is in my top six because Friartown is very local and I have a great relationship with every coach that’s on staff, from managers to the head coach. They’ve made it known many times that I’m a priority target for them and that they need me. I like the way they play and how unselfish they play. Kim (English) has talked many times about if you’re not open, just pass the ball and cut. I’m big on that. They love my scoring ability and would give me the keys to their offense if I was there. They check in with me every day and they’re always trying to get me on campus. I could see myself in their program because they’re local and close to home. That’s always a great option. I know they would challenge me to be a two-way guard. Also, their fans are probably the best I’ve experienced, especially on social media. And whenever I go on campus, they are always showing me love. It shows that they actually want me.”
Rutgers: “Rutgers is in my top six because they contact me a lot and I could see myself playing there just because of their style of play. They love bucket-getters and people who can score at will. I know they would challenge me to play just as much defense as O. They also told me they want me to be the guy after Dylan (Harper) and Ace (Bailey) are gone. So that intrigues me. They also want me to come back to school if I decide to go pro early so I can get my degree which is huge. I’m close with Coach (TJ) Thompson and (Brandin) Knight. They contact me every day.”
Virginia Tech: “Virginia Tech is in my top six because they’re a tough program that’s always going to compete, no matter what. If there is a man down, they still compete. They have multiple guys that are two-way players, which makes them a well-balanced team. They’re a good shooting program that likes to go and get down the floor. I could fit in their program because of their toughness and willingness to win. I’m developing a relationship with coach (Christian) Webster and we are planning on taking a visit soon.”
Xavier: “Xavier is in my top six because it’s a big-time player development program. Sean Miller has brought so many guys to the NBA. They check on me multiple times a day and they’ve taken multiple private flights to come see me play during the school season. It’s a good fit in their system. I could see myself being a good fit. They let their guards go and give them the freedom to make plays for their teammates. Desmond Claude tells me how he loves the school and how he’s happy to be there. He’s definitely going to be an NBA draft pick. I haven’t been on my official yet but I’m taking one after I take one to Providence. So I don’t know the culture and environment, but I know its crazy over there. They’ve made it clear that I’m a priority for their program.”
