4-star WR Naeshaun Montgomery commits to Florida: ‘It felt like home’
Miami (Fla.) Miami Central four-star wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery started to feel the love from Florida shortly after the Gators offered him. Once communication was strong between him and the SEC program, Montgomery made a trip to Gainesville.
The 6-foot-1, 165-pound wideout has returned to Florida’s campus three times since then, including for an official visit from May 31-June 2. Montgomery knew he wanted to be a Gator on that trip and eventually turned that feeling into reality, as he committed to head coach Billy Napier and his staff on Sunday.
“I like how they develop receivers,” Montgomery told On3. “Coach Billy Gonzales, coach Napier and the rest of the coaching staff know what to do with receivers. They do a great job of developing players and that was the main thing I cared about.”
Florida treated Montgomery like a top priority
Montgomery, who chose Florida over multiple programs including LSU, is excited about the chance to play “in front of a big crowd” in Gainesville. He also likes Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and how the Gators’ fans love football.
Napier and Co. now have a trio of talented 2025 in-state wide receivers committed in Montgomery, Orlando (Fla.) Jones four-star Vernell Brown III and Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward four-star Joshua Moore. The No. 37 player in Florida is excited to represent the Sunshine State in the coming years.
“From the first time I went down there, it felt like home,” said Montgomery, the No. 249 overall prospect and No. 33 wide receiver in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. “The coaches made it feel like home. They checked in on my family, which is why my family really wanted to keep going up there. They felt like that was the place for me.”
Montgomery is excited to play for the Florida coaches
Montgomery feeling like a priority to Florida’s coaches played a big role in his decision. He received “nonstop” communication from staff members on both sides of the ball.

Gonzales, the Gators’ wide receivers coach, was Montgomery’s main connection with the Gators. The two grew close throughout his recruitment.
“He doesn’t keep our conversations only about football,” Montgomery said. “Every call is a different type of conversation.”
Napier made a positive impression on Montgomery as well. The four-star is excited to play for Florida’s head man once he arrives on campus.
“What I like about him is that he has a history of coaching receivers,” Montgomery said. “There was one conversation we had when he was talking to me about when he was at Alabama and recruiting players including DeVonta Smith. He knows a lot about my position and that’s what really stands out to me. I’ve seen him at practice being around the receivers and coaching them up. Even though Florida has coach Gonzales, he’s still there helping out. He’s engaged the whole practice.”
