River Rouge (Mich.) four-star wide receiver Nick Marsh has narrowed his list of top schools down to five. That list includes Kansas, Michigan State, Oregon, Penn State and Pittsburgh.

Marsh is a former Michigan State pledge but decommitted form the Spartans in early March.

The 6-foot-3, 198-pounder is the No. 86 overall prospect and No. 15 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Michigan.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Penn State holds a significant edge in Marsh’s recruitment. The Nittany Lions sit with an 81.3% chance to land his pledge.

Marsh took an official visit to Penn State last weekend. He’s set to take others to Kansas (June 9), Auburn (June 16) and Michigan State (June 23).

“I’m just looking into who else [these schools] are recruiting and the players and their skill set,” Marsh told Chad Simmons in late May. “I want be around and surrounded by great teammates and guys that can actually ball that are good academically, too. I didn’t want to be the only guy, I wanted to have other guys that could be called ‘the guy’ as well. Probably, I think I may have made that decision too early, so for me backing out of it was about just taking my time and really realizing what I want was a big part of my recruitment.”

Michigan State has remained in the hunt with constant communication but the Spartans have a battle on their hands.

Penn State has remained a constant with Marsh and he left an unofficial in April impressed with what he saw in Happy Valley.

“When I went up on the unofficial, it really stood out to me how Penn State could be a big benefit for me,” Marsh told Simmons. “The environment, the stadium, everything surrounding Penn State seems like a place I could thrive at. As far as a decision, I want to just take my time. But I know they’re bringing in some dogs, so their recruitment will also play a part for me.

… Penn State, I could be developed as a pretty good receiver. I can be developed at both places. But there’s a little something different that stands out about Penn State with guys like Allen Robinson, who was a pretty big-time receiver there.”

Marsh currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $113K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
