Five-star 2026 quarterback Jared Curtis is down to six schools in his recruitment, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Wednesday.

Among the remaining contenders are: Oregon, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Auburn and Ohio State.

The Nashville Christian (Tenn.) star was previously committed to the Bulldogs, but backed off his pledge in October after seven months to re-evaluate his options. He was considering each of the above schools, as well as Ole Miss, at the time of his decommitment. But the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder will now look at just six as he looks to make his next and final decision.

He is set to visit Alabama the weekend of February 1 for their junior day, and has hosted coaches from South Carolina, Auburn, Georgia, and Oregon recently.

This fall, Curtis was named the 2024 Gatorade Tennessee Football Player of the Year. The junior gunslinger led the Eagles to a 13-1 record and a state title in the fall. Across 14 games, he threw for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns while also rushing for 637 yards and an additional 18 scores.

Relationships and recruiting will be a key factor for Curtis

Last month, Curtis told On3’s Chad Simmons said the plan is to take his official visits before making a commitment this time.

“I will wait until official visits to make my decision,” Curtis said. “I will get out more. When official visits open up, I will get down on some visits, see the school and see what I like about it.

“The factors when I make a decision will be the coaching staff, my relationship with the coaching staff and the class they bring in this year. Those and the class I would bring in with me would be the biggest things.”

Curtis is the nation’s No. 4 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 1 QB in the class and the top-ranked recruit from the state of Tennessee.
