After his first visit to Texas in the spring, Jaime Ffrench named the Longhorns his top school. Tennessee faded in this race and LSU and Miami battled through the summer, but since naming Texas his leader early in May, nothing ever changed.

Ffrench has just made it official and committed to Steve Sarkisian and the SEC program in Austin.

“There were a lot of challenges with LSU and Miami at different times, but since my first visit to Texas, they have been on top,” Ffrench told On3. “That visit I took in spring put Texas on top and they just stayed the course.

“LSU and Miami were in the way, but Texas just kept doing what they do and building on the relationships with me and my family. I am a relationships guy, and how they connected with me and my family 110% percent played a big role in my decision.”

“When I took my official visits on June 22, I knew for sure. I made my decision on that visit. On my next visit with the coaches, I told them of my decision, then held it until my mom’s birthday.”

Now, there is no looking back for the No. 18 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking.

“I am 100% done. I am closing my recruitment out and enrolling at Texas in January.”

Ffrench already feels like part of the Texas family

Ffrench is Texas’ 19th commitment. He has only visited Austin twice, but he has bonded with commits, built relationships with the staff and those connections factored into his decision.

“It is about family there,” Ffrench said. “It is very family-oriented at Texas and they did a great job connecting with my family even more than they did with me. That meant a lot and it showed me a lot.

“My bond with the staff, the commits like Kaliq Lockett and KJ Lacey are different from any other. It is second to none for me when it comes to chemistry with guys at Texas.”

Chris Jackson was Ffrench’s lead recruiter. Before taking the wide receivers job at Texas, he was coaching for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ffrench is a star at Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin and he was aware of Jackson then. That relationship took off this year.

“Me and coach Jackson have that tight bond. Since January, we have connected and really gotten close. I like him as a coach, I know he is happy at Texas and I love when he is about with his NFL experience.”

Ffrench expects to win big under Sarkisian at Texas

Texas made it to the playoffs last season. They are expected to be there again later this year. Ffrench is excited about what he is going into in Austin.

“Coach Sark has a great offensive mind,” Ffrench said. “He is creative, he spreads the ball out and he knows how to get the ball to his playmakers at the receiver position. He knows his players, he knows how to use them, he mixes in the air raid and he knows what to do with guys in his system to make them successful.

“Texas is a legendary program and we are building a legendary team under coach Sark. It is a great program and coach Sark is doing big things. Texas will win a national championship under coach Sark.”
