Anthony Davis injured to end first half of Game 1 vs. Memphis Grizzlies
The story around Anthony Davis has become the same one year in and year out. No one questions the talent and skill level of the eight-time All-Star but, more often than not, he has been beyond injury prone over the last few seasons of his NBA career. Now, it looks like it could potentially come into play again based on how he is evaluated after what looks to be another scare.
Towards the end of the first-half of Game 1 against the Memphis Grizzlies, Davis bumped his right arm inside with Jaren Jackson Jr.. Once the play was whistled dead, the LA Lakers star big gingerly carried that arm to the sideline and subsequently went to the locker room.
However, the updates sound promising coming out of halftime. Per Shams Charania at The Athletic in a tweet he has since deleted, Davis is going to give it a go and return for the second half.
Backing up the report, Davis did emerge to start the third quarter vs Grizzlies.
Davis has made a major impact early on for Los Angeles over the first 24 minutes. In his 18 minutes, he scored 10 points on 50% shooting. Davis was also putting in work on the defensive end with six rebounds, five blocks, and two steals.
Still, with the injury history, it’s a sigh of relief for those in Hollywood to have him return after that moment. The Lakers will need Davis too as they try to climb out of a halftime deficit and attempt to earn a series-opening victory over the Grizzlies.
