Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and head coach Kliff Kingsbury may not be on the same page but the defense is playing pretty well. For the second time on Thursday Night Football, they were able to take an Andy Dalton interception in for a touchdown. This time, former Clemson star Isaiah Simmons was the one making plays.

Dalton was wanting to go downfield but began to feel pressure off the edge. His throw was not high enough to get over Simmons and the athletic linebacker showed off his great hands. He ran just over 55 yards to score his first career touchdown.

Scoring early in games has been a problem for Arizona, playing from behind for a majority of their snaps heading into Thursday. With two pick-sixes, the defense has now put up 12 of the 28 points put on the board in the desert.

Arizona desperately needs to get back on the right track with a win. These defensive scores are a great start from Simmons. Still, there is a second-half to play against the Saints.

More on Isaiah Simmons

When Simmons was going through the NFL Draft process coming out of Clemson, nobody was quite sure what position he would play. Simmons was all over the field for then-Tigers defensive coordinator Brent Venables, mainly playing linebacker. But he was not afraid to rush for the passer or drop back into the secondary.

He has been doing more of the same in Arizona, having a solid season. Thus far in 2022, Simmons has recorded 17 tackles and gotten his hands on the football once with a forced fumble. Thursday night was the second time and Simmons made it count in a big way.
