Free agent cornerback Deandre Baker is looking for a new home right now and has recently worked with the Arizona Cardinals. According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Cardinals brought in Baker along with outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu.

The 2018 Jim Thorpe award winner is looking for a new home after the Kansas City Chiefs released him earlier in the month of August. Kansas City parted ways with Baker just before the start of week one of the NFL preseason.

Baker’s time with the Chiefs was short after playing with the team for just eight games in the 2021 NFL season. The former Georgia Bulldog was the 30th overall pick in the 2019 draft made by the New York Giants.

In New York, Baker experienced instant playing time in his rookie season, starting in 15 of the 16 games. He finished the year with 61 tackles and eight passed deflections; however, some off-the-field troubles led to his release shortly after his rookie campaign. Baker was charged with four counts of armed robbery back in August 2020. However, those charges were dropped a few months later, in November but not before New York released him.

Attaochu is the second-round pick made by the then San Diego Chargers in the 2014 NFL Draft. After spending his first four years with the Chargers, the former Georgia Tech linebacker has struggled to find a consistent home in the NFL. Attaochu has played for the San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets, Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and Chicago Bears since leaving Los Angeles.

Baker was one of the best cover corners in college football when he suited up for the Georgia Bulldogs

In his final season with the Georgia Bulldogs, Baker established himself as the nation’s very best at the defensive back position. He garnered first-team All-American honors from several different media outlets across the country. On top of that, the former Bulldog standout was named the 2018 Jim Thorpe Award winner – given to the nation’s top defensive back. That season, he racked up two interceptions, 10 pass breakups, and a forced fumble.

According to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2015 class, Baker was rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 65 cornerback in America. A product of Miami Northwestern High School (Miami, Florida), he attended the same high school as Teddy Bridgewater and Amari Cooper.
